Amrita’s ‘script’-tease!

Okay boys, don’t let you imagination run wild.

Firstly, there is no spelling error in this headline (uh, huh!). And there’s no ‘strip’-show coming up here. Yeah sure, Ms Amrita Rao is turning into one sexy thing (with her short dresses, skimpy skirts, and just the right bit of skin-show) — aren’t we glad to see those long tees and kurtis; that covered everything they shouldn’t have; thrown out of her wardrobe? But the gal ain’t ready for smooches and swimsuits just yet. So let’s focus on other parts, uh-oh, we mean serious stuff, like scripts, alright? (Geez! Talk about one-track minds). Amrita was telling us about her fascination for scripts. Not just her movie scripts, but any movie script. “I have a very good ear for scripts. I love reading scripts of all kinds of movies and I must say that I’ve a good sense of judgment too. I tell my friends to bounce scripts off me before signing on projects. I have become like a script doc.” Well, she’s looking so hot nowadays that she’s nothing short of ‘script-tease’, really. Though we wish she’d used her creative antenna for her own, My Name is Anthony Gonsalves, she would’ve saved herself a lot of trouble, no? But everyone is entitled to a few slip-ups, dearie, so we’ll let it rest at that. Of course, she excitedly added, “I’ve become choosy about what I’m doing now, and I’m proud of a movie like Welcome to Sajjanpur; you don’t get a chance to work with Shyam Benegal everyday. Besides, my next is Victory, with a fresh talent like Harman Baweja. I just can’t wait for it!” While Harman plays a cricketer in this one, we wonder what Amrita will be doing? ‘Scripting’ a success, other than getting bowled over, of course! LOL!

Cuba's world-famous cigar festival closes in Havana

Sunday, February 28, 2010 HAVANA: Hundreds of wealthy merchants and cigar aficionados from all parts of the world gathered in Havana this week to bid high stakes for humidors full of premium cigars. Cuba's annual Habanos festival ended on Friday night with an auction of ornate humidors of cedar and mahogany stacked with hand-rolled stogies that raised 800,000 euros ($1.09 million dollars). Habanos S.A. executives this month said cigar sales fell 8 percent to $360 million in 2009, so they have created the Julieta, a smaller, milder version of the Romeo y Julieta cigar, aimed specifically at female smokers. Women now make up only 5 to 10 percent of customers for Habanos. But even with the creation of the Julieta, Garcia said Habanos has only modest hopes for 2010 sales, due largely to a weak economy in Spain, the biggest market for Cuban cigars. The flavor of premium tobacco relies on the soil and climate in which it is grown. The western province of Pinar Del Rio, famous fo
