McCain picks Palin as surprise VP

DAYTON, Ohio..... Republican John McCain made a surprise choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate on Friday, adding a political unknown to the presidential ticket who could help him appeal to women voters. Palin, 44, a self-described "hockey mom," is a conservative first-term governor of Alaska with strong anti-abortion views, a record of reform and fiscal conservatism and an outsider's perspective on Washington. "She's exactly who I need. She's exactly who this country needs to help me fight the same old Washington politics of me first and country second," McCain told a roaring crowd of 15,000 supporters in Dayton, Ohio. Palin was chosen over more experienced and better known contenders as the Arizona senator grabbed the spotlight from Democratic rival Barack Obama one day after Obama accepted his party's presidential nomination before 75,000 flag-waving supporters at Denver's football stadium. "The mission is clear. The nex

Spirits and Psychics

People would say the property would be a waste but some psychics would accept such deprivation as respect to the “others”.However, most psychics consider evidences to let the physical owner understand each mystery labeled to their properties. And some would enter the paranormal realm just to satisfy the owner from the bond pressed to their material belongings.Persistence and strong will are sometimes the basic cause of their success over the hollow maze of entering the spirit world. Their apparent objective is to cut the connection issued by some spirits, most-often-than-not, the past owner/s of the property, and then arrange contentment and peace to these entities. There is no legal basis that psychics' doings are acceptable to both realm. Though, people would claim it necessary since they are benefited by the service, matter-of-fact. Seldom, both parties, ordinary people and psychics, organize the transaction as natural as other business services would and thus introduce such busi

`Laptops may become as hot as Sun'

05/10/2008....WASHINGTON: With processing speeds getting faster laptops are also getting hotter and hotter. "Laptops are very hot now, so hot that they are not 'lap' tops anymore," said Avik Ghosh, assistant professor at the University of Virginia School of Engineering and Applied Science. "The prediction is that if we continue at our current pace of miniaturisation, these devices will be as hot as the sun in 10 to 20 years." Researchers at the University are working to overcome the excess heat generating problem using nanoelectronics, expected to power the next generation of computers. Ghosh and Mircea Stan, also a professor in the department, are re-examining nothing less than the Second Law of Thermodynamics. The law states that, left to itself, heat will transfer from a hotter unit to a cooler one - in this case between electrical computer components - until both have roughly the same temperature, a state called "thermal equilibrium." The possi

Why is so much emphasis given to the bikini?

"I'm eating well, and I'm eating right," justifies actor Minissha Lamba, who has upped her oomph quotient these days. Having got bikini-fit for her role in Kidnap , the actress is on top of the world. She tells us, "There was a time that I wished I could fit into anything, today I do. It ups your image, confidence... and you just feel good about yourself!" With many contemporaries having dared to bare – Aishwarya and Bipasha in Dhoom 2, Kareena in Tashan, Deepika during her modeling days showed off her bikini figure, Priyanka is known to have gone 'skimpy' in Dostana – who has the sexiest bikini-figure? "They're all gorgeous," says Minissha with much diplomacy. "But why is so much emphasis given to the bikini? I'd wear a bikini if i were to travel to some beachy hotspot. When I go to Goa I carry my bikini with me. I'm quite a water baby in places that allow me to be one. In India it gets tough to wear a bikini and not be lo

Secret to a happy marriage

05/10/2005................. According to the study, spending at least 22 periods of "quality time" with your spouse every month, such as going for a short stroll or sharing a romantic dinner, are key to maintaining a healthy relationship. Researchers have based their findings on a poll of 4,000 couples who were asked to describe themselves as "happy" or "very happy" to estimate how much time they spend together in an effort to work out the secret of their success. Analysis of their responses revealed that the couples looking for happiness should spend at least seven evenings together every month with two proper dinner dates, The Daily Telegraph reported. Other important elements included two romantic walks a month and at least one visit to a pub or theatre without children or other friends, the study found. The couples also recommended that husbands should give their wife flowers or another gift at least once a month. But they also advised people to spend

Michael Jackson: 'I Feel ... Very Young' at 50

He first became a star as a young boy, then endured superstardom, scandals and a legal prosecution, but as he turns 50, Michael Jackson told "Good Morning America" in an exclusive interview that he's "having a wonderful time, just relaxing." Speaking by phone from his home in California, at times so softly he was barely audible, Jackson said he was listening to James Brown and preparing for his 50th birthday Friday, when he will "just have a little cake with my children and we'll probably watch some cartoons" -- before he gets right back to work. Does turning 50 mean he now has an AARP card? "Not that I know of!" Jackson said, laughing. He said he still can do all his famous dance moves and "more." "I feel very wise and sage, but at the same time very young," he said. Reflecting back, Jackson said the happiest time in his life was probably when he was recording his hit solo albums "Thriller," released in 1982
