150-year-old church set on fire in India

Friday, September 19, 2008....JABALPUR: An angry mob set a 150-year-old church on fire during a series of violence continue in India here on Thursday.This incident, occurred in a city of Madhya Pradesh, was a result of conflicts between the Hindus and the Christians in various areas of India.A number of churches in Orissa and Karnataka were attacked over the weekend,Indian Christians held protest rallies against setting the churches on fire and demanded from the government to take stern action against the culprits.In the Hindu-Christian violence, continued for the last one month, 16 people have been died and several wounded. Most of them w ere the Christians.

Mexican jail riots leave 23 dead

Friday, September 19, 2008.....MEXICO CITY: At least 23 people have been killed in ongoing riots at a prison in Mexico. According to a Human Right Inspector, riots set off by the death of a prisoner, allegedly at the hands of prison guards. The death toll has risen to 23 in ongoing riots in Tijuana jail while another 12 people were injured when violence broke out at the La Mesa prison in Tijuana, near the US border. Family members were quoted as saying inmates were protesting at their treatment since a riot on Sunday that led to at least three inmates' deaths. The jail authorities said they had regained control of the prison after shifting about 200 inmates to other jails following Wednesday's riot.

I am scared of fashion shows: Priyanka Chopra

Bollywood actress and former Miss World Priyanka Chopra says she gets goosebumps whenever she sashays down fashion runways. "I am not a ramp-friendly person, as professionally I have walked the runway just for a couple of months. You can say I am out of practice," Chopra said after she turned out for designer Ritu Kumar at the inaugural show of the HDIL Indian Couture Week here late Tuesday. "In movie making, we have so many cuts and takes that we can cover up our goof ups but on the ramp, everything is live. Hats off to the professional models who do it so gracefully," Chopra told. Chopra had first walked the ramp for Kumar when she was just 16, and doesn't remember the last time she did so professionally!
