Sunday, December 13, 2009 KARACHI: The biggest bank robbery of the country’s history of Rs520 million has been carried out in the metropolitan city of Karachi.The looted money comprises local and foreign currencies. A bag containing 40,000 British pounds has been recovered from a police official’s house. The family members of the police official had left the bag home which contained foreign currency. According to police, the bank guards are involved in the bank robbery while raids are being carried out to arrest the other robbers.Police has also taken into custody two bank guards.
Friday, August 14, 2009 MUMBAI: A 26-year-old woman died Thursday of H1N1 swine flu in the southern city of Bangalore, raising India's death toll from the virus to 20, authorities said.The death was the first reported in India's information technology capital, the Press Trust of India reported.Meanwhile in Pune, the worst-affected in India, two more victims of the virus died Thursday, raising the death toll in that western city near Mumbai to 12, the report said.
