Amazing pictures of the UK's first ever eyelash transplant

How's this for a winning flutter? It’s the bare-lid Before and awesome After of the UK’s first eyelash transplant. The £3,500 procedure was done on this unidentified girl of 19 who for most of her life suffered trichotillomania – obsessive plucking or pulling out hair. And the patient, from Stockport, Cheshire, said: “The results are just amazing. The treatment sounded too good to be true at first as I’d almost accepted I’d never have real lashes again. Now I’m so glad I went ahead.” The four-hour operation involves taking hair from the back of the head and placing individual strands into cuts in the eyelid. The lashes then thicken up gradually between four and six months after the treatment. Shami Thomas, of Transform, which performed the surgery pioneered in America, said: “An eyelash transplant is very safe, cost-effective and pain-free – and it can have life-changing effects.”
