At least 20 die in accident on Russian nuclear sub

Sunday, November 09, 2008 MOSCOW: At least 20 people died and 21were injured in an accident on board a Russian nuclear-powered submarine, Russian media said on Saturday. A naval spokesman confirmed the reports, which did not give the name of the submarine specify or where it was located, adding only that it was on exercises, at sea and 208 people were on board. An anti-submarine ship, the Admiral Tributs, was providing assistance and taking some of the injured crew from the submarine to port, media reported. MUMBAI: Pretty flamboyant Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor has said that she still regarded her former lover Shahid Kapur very much part of her life.Talking to an Indian newspaper, Bebo, as she is affectionately known said, "Whatever went wrong between Shahid and me was very personal. I had always maintained that Shahid would always be part of my life. But, we were better off as friends. Venus, Zvonareva reach final of Qatar Open Tennis

DOHA: Venus Williams will play Vera Zvonareva in the final of the WTA Championships after both women achieved difficult three-set victories on Saturday. Wimbledon champion Williams overcame Serbian world number one Jelena Jankovic 6-2 2-6 6-3, and Zvonareva beat fellow Russian Elena Dementieva 7-6 3-6 6-3.The match between Williams and Jankovic produced high-quality rallies as both players defended well but attacked at every opportunity. Jankovic made a slow start and produced numerous errors, while her American opponent's strong forehand helped her to break twice to lead 4-1.Jankovic raised her game and, although it was too late to save the first set, she took the second. She recovered from 0-40 in the first game, winning nine of the next 10 points and going on to lead 3-0.
