Meera-Attiq saga ends for now

LAHORE: Lollywood actress Meera and her purported husband Attiqur Rehman have agreed to withdraw cases against each other, a private TV channel reported on Saturday. According to the channel, Defence Police Station In-charge Amanullah presented the reconciliation draft to Lahore Additional District and Sessions Judge Shafiqur Rehman. Meera’s lawyer told reporters that the agreement was finalised after police officials and close friends of Meera and Attiq intervened. Both parties have agreed not to register any case against each other in the future. However, the channel reported that Meera said she had not reconciled yet. Talking to the channel, Attiq claimed that Meera was his wife, but said he would have no reservations if she sought dissolution of the marriage (khula). Case filed against Attiq for ‘trespassing Meera’s house’

LAHORE: Defence-A Police on Monday registered a first information report (FIR) against Attiqur Rehman, the purported husband of film actress Meera. In the FIR, Meera alleged that Attiq and his accomplices trespassed her house and damaged her property. She alleged they came to kill her, but she was not in the house at the time. She said Attiq also extended her life threats on phone. Cyber crime: Meanwhile, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has initiated investigations against Attiq on Meera’s application, seeking action against him under cyber crimes laws. In her two-page application filed with FIA Director Muhammad Azam Joya, she alleged Attiq committed cyber crime as he sent her e-mails, threatening her and her family with dire consequences. Another twist in Meera’s tale

LAHORE: In yet another twist in the unfolding tale of film star Meera’s marriage, Family Court judge Shazia Khalid imposed a Rs 3,000 fine on Meera after the actress’s counsel withdrew a petition, seeking the dissolution of her purported marriage with Attiqur Rehman. Separately, an additional district and sessions judge on Thursday extended the interim bail of the actress and her family members until September 26. On September 6, the court had granted interim bail to Meera, her mother Shafqat Zohra, father Syed Muhammad Sarwar, brother Ahsan Abbas and brother-in-law Mushtaq Ahmad, in a case registered against them on the charge of theft and threatening her purported husband Attiqur Rehman of dire consequences. LAHORE: Shafqat Begum, mother of film star Meera, has said her daughter’s purported husband Attiqur Rehman should know that girls affiliated with show business do not remain housewives for long.She said this to Defence Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sarfraz Virk on Monday. Not married: However, Meera’s mother also denied that her daughter married Attique on September 2, 2007.
