Monday, June 29, 2009 LOS ANGELES: Michael Jackson was emaciated, bald and riddled with needle wounds when he died, a leaked autopsy reportedly reveals. A post mortem examination done on Jackson following his death last week found the 1.78-metre tall pop superstar weighed just 51 kilograms, Britain's The Sun newspaper reported. The 50-year-old's stomach was reportedly empty except for some partially-dissolved pills and his hips, thighs and shoulders were pockmarked with needle wounds - believed to be the legacy of injected narcotic painkillers. Jackson was also almost completely bald, with just a covering of "peach fuzz" left on his scalp, the pathologist noted in the alleged report. He died wearing a wig. The report stated Jackson several broken ribs caused by rescuers pumping his chest to try to resuscitate him after he went into cardiac arrest. Iran begins partial recount of vote

Monday, June 29, 2009 TEHRAN: Iran's top election body on Monday began a partial recount of the fiercely disputed presidential election, after opposition demonstrators defiantly faced off against riot police in Tehran. "The Guardians Council has started a partial recount of 10 percent of the ballot boxes," state-owned Arabic-language television said. The opposition is demanding a complete rerun of the vote, claiming it was marred by widespread irregularities and fraud in a dispute that has shaken the very foundations of the Islamic regime.

Family members turn out for BET Jackson tribute

Monday, June 29, 2009 LOS ANGELES: Top black performers paid high tribute to fallen pop star Michael Jackson at BET Awards where his sister Janet Jackson and father Joe Jackson made their first public appearances since the singer's death. The show's most moving moment came in a final tribute when Janet, a pop star in her own right, took the stage to thank the audience for turning out to honor her dead brother. "To you, Michael is an icon. To us, Michael is family, and he will forever live in all of our hearts," said Jackson, her voice choking as she held back tears. "On behalf of my family and myself, thank you for all of your love. Thank you for all of your support, we miss him so much." She was followed by host Jamie Foxx and R&B singer Ne-Yo singing a tender duet of Jackson 5 hit "I'll Be There."

3 dead, 60 hurt in China train collision

Two passenger trains collided Monday in an accident that killed three people and injured 60 as train cars were derailed and nearby houses knocked over, Chinese state media and an official said. The pre-dawn crash occurred in Hunan province when a train going from the provincial capital Changsha to the southern city of Shenzhen collided with another Shenzhen-bound train, state television said. The China Central Television newscast showed a tangle of red, white and blue train cars on their sides at the station at Chenzhou, where the collision occurred at 2:34 a.m. (1834 GMT Sunday). "One train compartment has been crushed out of shape. Debris and the belongings of the passengers are scattered everywhere," a CCTV reporter said as the camera showed seats ripped from the floor and the ground littered with plastic bottles and scraps of paper.
