KARACHI/Pakistan:: At least 12 people were killed and 45 others wounded in a powerful blast in the front part of Karachi’s main Ashura procession that just arrived in front of Denso Hall at MA Jinnah Road, hospital sources told Geo on Monday.
Police sources said they are trying to confirm the nature of the blast.
It should be mentioned that soon after the blast occurred, stampeded followed and various vehicles have been torched. The inflamed people pelted the police vehicles with stones.
Meantime, some eyewitnesses said they heard the sounds of gunshots on the occasion.
The ambulances soon arrived on the blast site and shifted the injured to the hospitals, where emergency has been declared.
Meanwhile, Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain has strongly condemned the bomb blast occurred at the Karachi’s main Ashura procession today.
In a statement issued here from London, Hussain appealed to the mourners to stay calm after the blast.
