Friday, November 27, 2009 MAKKAH MUKARRAMA: Millions of Muslims in Maidan-e-Arafat after performing the Hajj Rukn-e-Azam, overnight stay in Mazdalfa left for Mina in the morning. Saudi Arabia Mufti-e-Azam, Sheikh Abdul Aziz al Sheikh delivering Khutba-e-Hajj at Masjid-e-Nimra in Maidan-e-Arafat said the world and the ummah presently facing the greatest challenge of terrorism, which was being used for dividing the ummah into pieces. He condemned the practice of enforcing the views by force. Drawing the attention of the youths, he said that the western channels were misleading the Muslim youths, but the Muslim media should counter it.Following the Khutba, Zuhar and Asar prayers were together offered and, thereafter, the pilgrims went for Waquf in Maidan-e-Arafat.Khadim Al-Haramain Al-Sharifain King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz and members of the Saudi cabinet were present in Mina for looking after the facilities given to the Hujjaj.Hujjaj after reaching Muzdalfa offered Maghrib and Isha prayers together and after overnight stay in Mazdalfa offering Namaz-e-Fajr started leaving for Mina for Rami Jamarat.
BEIRUT: Thousands of people converged Saturday on central Beirut to mark the fourth anniversary of the assassination of Lebanese former premier Rafiq Hariri.Waving Lebanese flags and carrying pictures of the slain leader, men, women and children gathered under sunny skies in Martyr's Square where members of the parliamentary majority were to address the crowd. The rally comes as final preparations are underway in The Hague for the launch of the international tribunal set up to bring Hariri's killers to justice. It also comes as the country prepares for legislative elections in June that will pit Western-backed political parties against a Hezbollah-led alliance backed by Syria and Iran.Hariri died in a massive car bombing on February 14, 2005 that also killed 22 others. The assassination was widely blamed on then Lebanese power-broker Syria, which has denied any involvement.
