KARACHI—Popular Pakistani film star and TV artist Syed Kamal passed away here on Thursday after lingering illness in the hospital. He was 75. Kamal was admitted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital with a heart stroke on Wednesday, but he could not survive and passed away on Thursday morning. Kamal, who has a striking resemblance with the legendary Indian film star Raj Kapoor, received an international fame after performing leading roles in all-time hit films like Toba and Ashyana. The film hero of 60s and 70s also worked in many TV dramas and serials at small and received public appraisal for his talent at the TV screen. His most notable TV appearance is in hit TV drama Kashkol in which he played a wealthy businessman whose son (played by his real life son, Ghalib Kamal) becomes addicted to heroin. Syed Kamal has worked in 120 films. Besides, he has also directed several films too. Many famous film and TV stars have condoled his sad demise and termed it a great loss not only for his family but for the film and TV industry.
