Monday, October 26, 2009 LOS ANGELES: Michael Jackson fans have condemned the new film about him, This Is It, claiming it covers up the grim reality of the King of Pop's final days. The people behind it claim to be friends as well as fans of the late King of Pop, and say their aim is to raise awareness about the true state of the star in the last weeks of his life. They accuse the firms behind the film, AEG and Sony, of not showing his failing health and the stress he was under ahead of a 50-date tour of London. This Is It, which uses more than 100 hours of unseen footage of Jackson rehearsing for his concert comeback, is the first since the singer died on June 25. The eagerly awaited documentary makes its premiere on Tuesday, screening simultaneously in 18 countries before going on a limited two-week release. They accused people surrounding Jackson of ignoring the singer's ill-health while he participated in gruelling rehearsals for the London concerts which were due to have begun in July. "In the weeks leading up to Michael Jackson's death, while this footage was being shot, people knew that he looked like he might have died," the group said. Associates of Jackson have insisted the singer was in good health during the concert rehearsals. Authorities in Los Angeles have declared that the singer's death was homicide and revealed in August the star had a lethal cocktail of six different drugs in his body when he died.
