Monday, October 05, 2009 NEW DELHI: A 24-year-old airhostess with Air India has alleged that she was beaten up and molested by the pilot and a co-pilot on the Sharjah-Lucknow-Delhi flight on Saturday.In her complaint to the police the victim claimed she was “abused and pushed” by the two pilots inside the cockpit when she refused to grant them “personal favours”.The incident took place in the cockpit of the Air India flight that was coming from Sharjah in UAE, the complaint said. The flight arrived in Delhi around 2 am on Saturday. The victim lodged a complaint at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) after the flight landed. The airhostess was then sent for medical examination where it was confirmed that she had “simple injuries”. A case of hurt, molestation and outraging the modesty of a woman has been registered at the Palam Airport police station. Police said the victim airhostess was traumatised after the incident.
Friday, August 14, 2009 MUMBAI: A 26-year-old woman died Thursday of H1N1 swine flu in the southern city of Bangalore, raising India's death toll from the virus to 20, authorities said.The death was the first reported in India's information technology capital, the Press Trust of India reported.Meanwhile in Pune, the worst-affected in India, two more victims of the virus died Thursday, raising the death toll in that western city near Mumbai to 12, the report said.
