Friday, July 17, 2009 SYDNEY: A moderate 5.7-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Vanuatu in the South Pacific Friday, the US Geological Survey said. Its epicentre was located 68 kilometres (42 miles) west-northwest of the capital Port-Vila at 04:59 am (1759 GMT Thursday), it said.
The quake struck at a shallow depth of 10 kilometres.The Hawaii-based Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre did not issue any immediate warning.
