Thursday, July 02, 2009 LOS ANGELES: Funeral plans for Michael Jackson remained clouded in uncertainty Wednesday, with a burial at the pop icon's Neverland Ranch reportedly ruled out as the singer's will emerged for the first time. The Los Angeles Times reported that the Jackson family's hopes of burying the music legend at his sprawling fantasy estate had been dashed because local officials in Santa Barbara County were unable to circumvent local regulations. Earlier reports had indicated Jackson's body would be placed on public display at Neverland on Friday before a private service for his family at the Ranch on Sunday.A stampede of international media and fans rushed to the sleepy town of Los Olivos near Neverland following the reports, with hotels across the surrounding area selling out within hours.

Local media reports said a memorial service at a large-capacity venue such as the city's Staples Center or Coliseum was now being considered, with Jackson possibly buried at a city cemetery. The fresh doubts over Jackson's funeral arrangements came as the picture surrounding the star's estate appeared to clear with the emergence of a 2002 will filed at Los Angeles Superior Court.

Sunday, February 28, 2010 HAVANA: Hundreds of wealthy merchants and cigar aficionados from all parts of the world gathered in Havana this week to bid high stakes for humidors full of premium cigars. Cuba's annual Habanos festival ended on Friday night with an auction of ornate humidors of cedar and mahogany stacked with hand-rolled stogies that raised 800,000 euros ($1.09 million dollars). Habanos S.A. executives this month said cigar sales fell 8 percent to $360 million in 2009, so they have created the Julieta, a smaller, milder version of the Romeo y Julieta cigar, aimed specifically at female smokers. Women now make up only 5 to 10 percent of customers for Habanos.
