Sunday, June 07, 2009 SRINAGAR: In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has appealed to the international community to play its role in resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with Kashmiris’ aspirations, KMS reported on Saturday.Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement issued in Srinagar, today, strongly denounced the illegal detention of Hurriyet leaders and use of brute force by Indian troops against the peaceful demonstrators in the occupied territory. He urged India to repeal draconian laws, withdraw its troops and take steps towards resolving the dispute, once and for all.APHC leader, Nayeem Ahmed Khan talking to media men in Srinagar took strong exception to subjecting of women and photojournalists to severe torture by Indian troops.Indian police personnel re-arrested Hurriyet leaders Shabbir Ahmed Shah and Muhammad Saleem Nunnaji from outside Srinagar Central Jail immediately after their release from illegal detention. They were shifted to an undisclosed destinations. The APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Syed Ali Gilani, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Mian Abdul Qayoom and Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi remained under house arrest.Meanwhile, forceful demonstrations, marked with complete shutdown, continued for the sixth consecutive day, today, all across the Kashmir Valley against the molestation and subsequent murder of two women by the troops in Shopian. The activists of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement took to the streets in Thanamandi, Rajouri, Surankot, Mandher, Doda, Bhaderwah and Kishtwar areas to protests against the incident.In Geneva, the Executive Director of Kashmir Institute of International Relations, Sardar Amjad Yousuf, apprised the participants of a seminar, held on the sidelines of the 11th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, about the gross human rights violations being perpetrated by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir.
