Friday, June 26, 2009 MUMBAI: Ajmal Kasab, the only terrorist arrested for 26/11, complained of stomachache in court and the judge directed the Arthur Road Jail authorities to carry out a check-up and a diagnosis. Kasab had stomach ulcers when he was in the custody of the crime branch. He looked in pain during the second session of the court proceedings. “Sir mujhe cell mein jane dijiye, pet mein dard ho raha hai” (Allow me to go to my cell I have a pain in my stomach). Special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam intervened: “Sir, when he was in the custody of the crime branch, he was suffering from stomach ulcers and he was diagnosed with it.”
Friday, August 14, 2009 MUMBAI: A 26-year-old woman died Thursday of H1N1 swine flu in the southern city of Bangalore, raising India's death toll from the virus to 20, authorities said.The death was the first reported in India's information technology capital, the Press Trust of India reported.Meanwhile in Pune, the worst-affected in India, two more victims of the virus died Thursday, raising the death toll in that western city near Mumbai to 12, the report said.
